Day Trips to Capri
When arriving at Marina Grande by ferry or boat, prepare for a bustling and somewhat confusing experience. Capri boasts two main towns: Anacapri and Capri. From Marina Grande, turn right and walk up the hill. You will notice people queuing for bus tickets. Purchase a ticket to Anacapri and from there to Capri. The bus stop is a little further up the hill. In Anacapri, consider buying round-trip tickets for the chairlift to Monte Solaro, the island's highest point. The ride takes approximately 15 minutes, and the panoramic views of Capri, the Bay of Naples, and the Amalfi Coast are breathtaking, especially on clear days. Allow about an hour to fully enjoy this experience.
If you have more than four hours on the island, take some time to explore Anacapri. A visit to Villa San Michele is highly recommended for another stunning view. Next, take the bus from Anacapri to Capri. Upon reaching the main square, head to Belvedere Tragara for a magnificent view. If you're feeling adventurous, descend the steep stairs to the bottom, where you can dine at La Fontelina or Da Luigi Ai Faraglioni. Both restaurants are known for their beach clubs and superb cuisine. While La Fontelina is a popular spot for celebrities and might be fully booked, Da Luigi offers equally delightful food and views, making the journey worthwhile.
Return to the main square in Capri, and if time permits, stroll around to enjoy the numerous luxury designer stores. When it's time to head back to your boat, take the funicular down to Marina Grande. If the funicular is too crowded, walking down takes about ten minutes.
For those seeking aquatic adventures, rent a boat from Marina Grande and explore the island's famous grottos, such as the Blue Grotto, and landmarks like the Kissing Arch and Faraglioni. Enjoy swimming or have lunch at one of the many beachside restaurants or clubs.
